Steyr Plant Tour
Experience technological openness and drive system diversity at the BMW Group Plant Steyr.
BMW Group Plant Steyr is the BMW Group’s largest motor plant worldwide with its own development centre. Over 1.2 million engines are produced here every year – meaning that every second BMW and MINI on the road has a heart from Steyr. The plant stands for openness to different technologies and offers a broad drive system portfolio in production and development: from combustion engines (diesel and petrol) to electric motors and hydrogen. Since 2025, the site has been producing the electric motors that are installed in the Neue Klasse models. With their expertise and quality awareness, the approximately 4,700 employees guarantee the typical BMW driving pleasure. Plant Steyr moves people – and has been doing so for over 45 years.

During the 130-minute tour, you can look forward to visiting the combustion engine and electric motor assembly lines. The highlight is the new production hall for electric drive systems, which are installed in the Neue Klasse vehicles. Experience the production process of electric motors in basic assembly, inverter production in a clean room environment, gearbox assembly and final assembly with a test field. You will also visit the stator and rotor production facilities – two manufacturing areas that have also been completely rebuilt and celebrated the start of series production in 2025. Another focus of the tour is the comprehensive presentation of the logistical processes and procedures – over 1 million parts are in motion every day in the plant.
